"Common Ground": my little corner of the blogosphere where I talk (a lot-wink) about the things that matter most to me: My relationship with my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, homeschooling, adoption, homemaking, parenting, "spousing." (yeah, yeah....I know that's not a word.....I made it up-it’s my blog-I can do things like that! Ha!)

Since my life isn’t all that different from yours, hopefully we can find some COMMON GROUND & learn from each other. Please share your thoughts!

Through the Lords’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness!

So…..part of me hesitates to post about this-

But, because my blog is partly an online journal of our family’s life-consider this a post for posterities sake.

Tonight was Nat-Nat’s last bottle.

Yeah, I know, I know.

He’s 2.5.

“Probably way too old for a bottle”-fess up, I know some of you are thinking that! (& hence, my slight hesitation with tonight’s topic!!)

But, he was only having one right before bed.

& we have our reasons for letting it drag on this long.

~We had some real “attachment” issues with him when he came home, & I knew one way to work on that was to feed him all his bottles while rocking him.

~He has always been such a small little peanut that we wanted to give him just as much nourishment as we could get in his system.

OK……if I am going to be quite honest-there is also a part of me that is just a bit melancholy when I think, "There will probably be no more need for bottles at our house." He is probably our last baby.

I think this feeling’s pretty common! Please tell me you have felt this way!
20% of me wants all my babies back-for just a few moments!!
80% of me is looking forward in anticipation to each new milestone.

But before I sign off, can I just say, “Would someone please pass the Kleenex?”

(Just kidding-sort of!!)

P.S. To all those visiting my blog from FFF, sorry-I know this doesn't exactly fit the theme....

I SO understand. Toby was over 2 when we gave up his bottle because he was such a peanut. Lili was alittle over one but she didn't have the same attachment to them as Toby did. And I agree with the 80-20 statement. Although for us there may be more little ones....someday. It's still bittersweet.

I hear you. My two older kiddos kind of weaned themselves earlier rather than later - more their doing than mine, I guess they were just ready. And they were fine with it but I wasn't! :( It was like the end of baby-ness. I hope my youngest will hang in there longer.

I get it. I definitely do. no judgments here. and yes, 99% of me wants my baby back forever. partly because I didn't really HAVE that baby when she was the helpless little infant of 0 - 12 months. sigh,

I totally understand your bittersweet feeling! My baby boy just turned 15 on Jan.31. Do you believe it! 0 to 1 was always my favorite stage but when yours is 15 he will bring you even more joy than you could ever imagine. He will always be your baby. :) Love ya, Jenn

I don't think you'll find any judgements here! We've all felt the same way about our babies growing up!

I forgot to reply about your comment ages ago...I designed my own header in photoshop. As far as I know, there aren't any templates. But if you'd like to know how to do it, I'll be happy to help!

We let Sophia have her bottle for a good amount of time after she came home. I still miss giving her a bottle and putting her in her crib. I love where she is today but I miss that little baby face too.
