"Common Ground": my little corner of the blogosphere where I talk (a lot-wink) about the things that matter most to me: My relationship with my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, homeschooling, adoption, homemaking, parenting, "spousing." (yeah, yeah....I know that's not a word.....I made it up-it’s my blog-I can do things like that! Ha!)

Since my life isn’t all that different from yours, hopefully we can find some COMMON GROUND & learn from each other. Please share your thoughts!

Through the Lords’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness!

FFF......."Orange"

Ok……since our trees don’t generally turn orange in CO, (well a few in town do, but not up in the mountains) I thought I would give you pics of COLOR instead!!

But first, a few recent pics of our kiddos, taken at Casa Bonita in Denver.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, to the pics of COLOR!
I love the RED rocks above!
This picture shows the contrast between God's creation & Man's creation.
The tree-a beautiful YELLOW,
& the other side of the highway-
a brilliant feat of engineering through Glenwood Canyon,
on I 70 west of Denver.
Have I mentioned I NEVER tire of living in CO?!?!?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
& now, I have a favor to ask:
Could some of you other busy moms run over here & give me some feedback?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
& for those of you who might be interested in a bit more of our adoption story,
my Hubby wrote a blog entry on HIS side of last week's story here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, run on over to FFF for more fun pics!

Kim, more detailed instructions for the birds: for each bird you need the following, all of which can be found at the craft store (we go to Michaels): one 2-inch pom pom ball and one 1-inch pom pom ball (for the body and head -- you can use red or blue or multi colored pom pom, whatver you choose); black felt (for the eyes and beek); red felt (tail); a brown or black pipe cleaner (for legs and feet), elmer's glue. cut the pipecleaner into two 3-inch pieces and two 1.5-inch pieces. the small piece you twirl around the large piece at one end of the large piece, and you have your leg and foot. do it again using the other large and small pieces for the second leg and foot. cut a tiny triangle out of the black felt for the beek, and pull two tiny pieces of the black felt with tweezers from the felt sheet and roll into a ball with your index finger and thumb to make one eye. do again for the second eye. OR just cut two tiny circles of black felt for the eyes. with the colored (red, or whatever you choose) felt, cut out a tail shape --- hard to explain the shape. picture a rectangle, only on one of the short sides instead make that with two points, so the outline of the shape is a long side, short side, long side and short side with two points on it. (the tail sort of looks like a V). lay the tail on the table, with the pointed parts facing north. put a good blob of glue in the middle of the tail and affix one end of each leg to the tail. so the legs are going south. On top of the tail/legs, put the big pom pom (body). there should be enough glue already there. on top of the big pom pom ball, add a little glue and then the little pom pom (head), pressing down to secure. put glue on the black felt triangle and affix that to the bird's head (the felt goes upside down). then dab glue on the eyes, and put those on the bird head. let dry and there you have it!

Great pictures! Colorado is really pretty!

My husband and 2 of my daughters just landed in Denver an hour ago..on their way to Colorado Springs for an Alumni weekend at the Air Force Academy. He wants to show them where he went to college! How far are you from there?

Kim & Dave said...

We are in the Springs. When did your hubby graduate from the Academy? My DH did in 1996.

Kim, My DH graduated in 1982...you guys are way younger than us!! He played hockey there and then taught flight school there after he graduated. He loved living in CO. I guess they are having a wonderful time out there this weekend! Do you guys go back for alumni weekends?

Kim & Dave said...

Lynda-we haven't gone to any of those weekends-mostly because they charge an arm & a leg for them!

I don't remember the red earth of CO but when we went to WY 5 yrs ago I remember how much that intrigued me! Our trees are even late in changing this year. Too wet, I think!
