"Common Ground": my little corner of the blogosphere where I talk (a lot-wink) about the things that matter most to me: My relationship with my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, homeschooling, adoption, homemaking, parenting, "spousing." (yeah, yeah....I know that's not a word.....I made it up-it’s my blog-I can do things like that! Ha!)

Since my life isn’t all that different from yours, hopefully we can find some COMMON GROUND & learn from each other. Please share your thoughts!

Through the Lords’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness!

Thursdays Before the Throne

Hi! I’m hoping some of you can help me answer a few questions for a friend.

How much fruit do you see in your own life when you walk the Christian life?
Do you see much difference in the way you used to conduct your life to how you do now?

Or, are you simply made more aware of what a sinner you are-
when compared to Christ’s perfection?
My friend is REALY struggling with this right now,
so any insight you might have from your own life
(or the lives of people you know) would be helpful.
Thanks so much!

I don't see much fruit in my own life, but I tend to be hard on myself. I also haven't seen much change.

Back in Bible college--where I had the feeling too--I asked one of my professors about it. He said, "That's what's hard about kids like you who grew up in the church: You've always been this way and just see your issues. You don't have an experience of the life change that came when you left a life without Christ."

For me, the other issue is that I'm still very much a sinner. Why? Should I be? Am I getting better? How much better?

Don't know.

Based on my observation of other Christians I respect, I am currently at a place where I believe that after we are saved we need just as much grace (if not more) than before. Grace is for us, the saved, and freely offered to those who are not.

My guess is that others see more fruit from my life than I do. They probably also see more change than I do. That's one more reason why we should be around other Christians: So they can encourage us and speak the truth into our lives.

My two cents.
