"Common Ground": my little corner of the blogosphere where I talk (a lot-wink) about the things that matter most to me: My relationship with my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, homeschooling, adoption, homemaking, parenting, "spousing." (yeah, yeah....I know that's not a word.....I made it up-it’s my blog-I can do things like that! Ha!)

Since my life isn’t all that different from yours, hopefully we can find some COMMON GROUND & learn from each other. Please share your thoughts!

Through the Lords’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not.

They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness!

Another "Accidental" Occurance

Or not...........
The last verse of this hymn was one thing the Lord brought to mind in my Quiet Time this morning.

Do you think it was an accident that my freind Amy requested this hymn at our Bible Study this morning?

Our hymnal has over 600 hymns in it. The math alone, makes it seem that an accident in this case, is impossible.

Through my choked up throat, I sang of "consolation" that comes only from trusting His word.

Need I remind you, this type of thing has happened to me twice in the last week & a half! God is quietly reminding me that He is at work.

When has the Lord done something like that for you? I would love to hear about it, as these types of stories are so encouraging!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Day by Day"
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Every day, the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He Whose Name is Counselor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
Help me then in every tribulation
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till I reach the promised land.
This was *my song* when I lived in Honduras the summer after I graduated from high school. Missing my family, modern comforts, with a broken leg and some sort of intestinal disease... I was so miserable. I kept thinking, "Why am I here? What good am I doing here? I can just barely speak the language????" and the Lord kept reminding me that I was learning to trust Him, that there was a purpose behind it all.
These were the words that really touched my heart:
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
Sonja and I sang it to each other every night in Honduras. That is a wonderful hymn, full of the truth of the Word of God and God's faithfulness and sovereignty.
Wow! Rachel, that is so neat!
God has used the words:
"That I loose not faith's' sweet consolation,
Offered me w/in Thy Holy Word."
I have realized that I must CHOOSE to rest in the promises He provides in His word-& not fear what tomorrow holds.
Thanks for sharing how God used this in Your life.
I didn't realize you had been to Honduras, too.
& to think that you & Sonja ended up "related!" Cool!
Kim, I'm so thankful He continues to show you He is at work and not forgetting.
Hugs...
